Today we wore clothes from a different era. We looked at the styles from across the decades and discussed the differences. We attended a fashion show in the school hall where the children had a chance to strut their stuff on the runway. After that we got ourselves into a timeline showing how fashions have changed!
Getting creative in Reception... This term we are learning about clothing! In Reception we decided to draw around each other and use our 'positional language' to describe where the pencil was going! After that we chose to paint and decorate our bodies with different items of clothing. Come in and see the results in red room! Some of us have also been choosing to learn to sew!! You can see the evidence below...
Here are the winners of the 'star of the week' certificates and 'WOW moments'.
In maths we have been learning about Fractions of shapes in year 2. Miss Arnold challenged us to find certain fractions on our strips of paper. We had to use our problem solving skills!
In Year 1 we have been concentrating on place value and how 2 digit numbers are made. We have been doing this in many different ways!
We were in the middle of our English lesson when we spotted out of the window the snow falling heavily! We threw our pencils to one side, pulled on our wellies and rushed outside. See how much fun we had..
Welcome Back... Only a 2 day week but straight back into learning mode! Our new topic for this half term is Clothing and Coverings. We will be specifically looking at clothes from America and South America. We will also be looking at clothes from the past too. In maths this week and next we are learning about time! We will be working hard to tell the time...feel free to practise at home - it's a hard thing to learn!!
Also... we said fond farewell to Ishtar today. Ishtar and he mum Isabelle are going to Nepal where they live for some of the year. Miss Wones went to Nepal in the Christmas holidays and got to meet Ishtar's babysitter! Today Miss Wones showed her holiday snaps on the whiteboard and Ishtar told us everything about where she lives when she's there!!
We will miss Ishtar and Isabelle lots but we are already looking forward to seeing them again later in the year!
Christmas at Hickling... Wow what a busy Christmas time we had! We enjoyed Christmas dinner, a Christmas party, a Christmas fayre, a visit from Father Christmas and a full scale Nativity production in the church. Below are some photos to give you a flavour of the goings on!
